Job description

We are looking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join an expressive arts department. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging lessons that foster creativity, experimentation, and technical skill across Key Stage 3 and 4.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate art educator to contribute to a vibrant and supportive school community where the arts are valued and celebrated. Beginning June 2025.

Duties as an Art Teacher:

 

  • Deliver high-quality Art lessons in line with the national curriculum and/or exam specifications (e.g., GCSE, A-Level, BTEC).

  • Encourage students to express themselves and explore a wide range of media and artistic techniques.

  • Plan and assess student work regularly, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate records of progress.

  • Create a stimulating classroom and display environment that celebrates student work.

  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL.

  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities such as clubs, exhibitions, and school events.

  • Maintain an organised and safe working studio environment, including the use and care of materials and equipment.

  • Uphold school policies on behaviour, safeguarding, and assessment.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Art and wider Expressive Arts team.

Ideal Art Teacher:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Have a degree in Art, Fine Art, Design, or a related subject.

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for visual arts education.

  • Be committed to high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.

  • Possess excellent classroom management and communication skills as an Art Teacher.

  • Be an enthusiastic, reflective, and innovative practitioner.
