Job description

Are you passionate about bringing the past to life and inspiring young people to think critically about the world? We are seeking a committed and engaging History Teacher to join a vibrant humanities department and help shape the historical thinking of students. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a History Teacher:

 

  • Teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5, if applicable).

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that develop students’ knowledge, understanding and analytical skills.

  • Foster curiosity, debate and independent thought through historical enquiry and source work.

  • Assess progress effectively to ensure strong outcomes for all students.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the department and school, including trips, clubs or enrichment.

Ideal History Teacher:

 

  • A qualified teacher (QTS) with a specialism in History.

  • A strong knowledge of the national curriculum and/or GCSE/A-Level History specifications (e.g. AQA, Edexcel).

  • A reflective practitioner with high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

  • Someone who inspires a love of learning through innovative and inclusive teaching as a History Teacher.

  • A collaborative and enthusiastic team player who contributes positively to school life.
