Step Teachers are currently looking to employ a fully qualified Secondary English Teacher to join one of our alternative provision schools in Tiverton for a long-term supply teaching assignment. The role is scheduled to begin in January and is initially set to continue until July. There is also a strong potential for this post to become permanent for the right candidate. Hours for this role are set to be full-time Monday-Friday and will come with additional planning and assessment responsibilities. You will also have access to the school's CPD training by attending staff meetings. This post is best suited for teachers who have a strong history of supporting SEND pupils, and have a great understanding of the most recent inclusive practices. 
 
As an alternative provision school, teachers can expect to see a high-quality level of provision to be provided for all pupils, where adults are committed to providing an inclusive, well-rounded education to the school's pupils to ensure that they are equipped with the life skills needed to achieve their goals and ambitions. Staff at the school are well trained and equipped to support newer teachers during their transition period into the school. 
 
In order to apply for this role, you will need to provide evidence of:
  • A qualification that grants qualified teaching status. 
  • An undergraduate degree in English. 
  • Referenced experience working with children in either an alternative provision or mainstream school. 
  • A Positive outlook on working in schools, with a fresh ‘can do’ approach towards every day.
  • A good use of positive, restorative behavioural management strategies.
