Job description

We are looking for a supportive and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding role where you will play a vital part in helping children access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Starting ASAP.

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND needs

  • Assisting teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet individual needs

  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development alongside academic progress

  • Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, and parents to deliver tailored support plans

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Have experience supporting children with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language needs, learning difficulties, or physical disabilities)

  • Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable in their approach

  • Hold a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential

  • Be confident working as part of a team as well as using their own initiative as a SEND Teaching Assistant.

  • Have a genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting all learners
