Job description
We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant for a temporary ongoing role starting in November 2025, supporting pastoral and safeguarding provision within a secondary school.
This opportunity is within a nurturing and inclusive secondary school that prioritises the wellbeing and progress of all pupils. Staff are dedicated to creating a safe and respectful environment where learners with SEND and SEMH needs receive tailored support. SEND Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional wellbeing and engagement
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) team to support safeguarding procedures
- Assist in the delivery of pastoral care and behaviour support strategies
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation and resilience through targeted interventions
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding documentation
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment
- Support pupils in accessing learning and managing transitions throughout the school day
- Must be able to drive and have relevant business insurance for travel between sites or outreach support
SEND Teaching Assistant – Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs in a school setting
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and experience working with DSL teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Committed to promoting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding
- Must hold a valid driving licence and have business insurance
- Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to individual pupil needs
