Job description

An Ofsted-rated Good school in North London are currently looking to recruit a Geography teacher – in a perfect world with the ability to teach History as well, though this is not a necessity – to help their students navigate through the tough labyrinth that is GCSE exam season. As exams are coming up, a trained Geography specialist is required as the primary subject, with History being a preferred secondary specialism, though other secondary subjects will of course be considered.

As a teacher of Geography at this all-through free school you will be a part of a wonderfully supportive, intelligent and forward-thinking team; in fact, the entire school staff can be described as such – the school’s ethos is very much born out of a forward-thinking approach to teaching and this is evident at all levels. The Humanities department is one of the school’s strongest and they have, admittedly, struggled to recruit the right Geography teacher though mainly out of bad luck with agency staff and agreements over the past couple of years.

The salary for this position is on the Main Pay Scale – while the school would love to be able to offer UPS teachers a position as well, they are not in a financial position that allows them to offer upper level salaries for ‘teacher of…’ roles right off the bat. However this is very much an opportunity for the ambitious teachers among you – this school is all about opportunities and the Geography department, within the wider Humanities faculty, is one in which the school are keen to invest over the future. So if you’re an NQT looking for a place to build your career, or an experienced teacher looking for a place to add to your career.

Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK. Step Teachers are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Unlike other agencies, Step Teachers are more than happy to process your pay via PAYE – you will not be forced to go with an Umbrella Company whilst on supply.
