Job description

Year 2/3 Teacher – Full-time, long-term maternity cover from May half term onwards


This school provides a calm, nurturing, and well‑organised learning environment where pupils benefit from supportive adults, clear routines, and engaging teaching. Pupils respond well to purposeful lessons that build independence, resilience, and steady academic progress across the curriculum.

Duties as Year 2/3 Teacher:

  • Teach a mixed Year 2/3 class full time, delivering high‑quality lessons
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with curriculum expectations
  • Support pupils’ progress in literacy, numeracy, and wider subject areas
  • Maintain consistent routines and promote positive behaviour
  • Adapt teaching to support varied learning needs, including SEND
  • Monitor and assess progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Contribute to phase planning, team meetings, and whole‑school initiatives
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare

Ideal Year 2/3 Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with strong KS1/KS2 experience
  • Confident teaching mixed‑year groups and supporting SEND
  • Strong organisational and communication abilities
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Proactive, reflective, and committed to high‑quality teaching
  • Able to motivate and support pupils of differing abilities
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil well‑being
