English Teacher
Job description
This school is seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join a successful and forward-thinking school. We are looking for a passionate educator who can deliver engaging and imaginative lessons, helping students develop strong literacy skills and a genuine appreciation for English language and literature. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as English Teacher:
Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable)
Inspire students through a rich and diverse curriculum, including a range of literary texts and non-fiction
Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback in line with school policy
Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and creativity
Support students in developing effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Prepare students for GCSE and (if applicable) A-Level examinations
Contribute to the development of teaching resources and curriculum planning within the English department
Engage with parents/carers through progress updates and consultations
Participate fully in staff meetings, CPD opportunities, and school events
Take on a pastoral role as a form tutor, supporting the academic and personal development of students
Ideal English Teacher:
Hold QTS (or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
Have the ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities as an English Teacher.
Be skilled in using data to inform teaching and raise achievement
Be a reflective practitioner, open to professional development
Foster a respectful and positive classroom culture
