Job description

Step Teachers are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join a Secondary School team in Hertfordshire on an ongoing long term temporary basis, starting ASAP.

The successful candidate will inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love of music through engaging lessons, practical performance opportunities and creative curriculum planning.

Duties as a Music Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality music lessons in line with the national curriculum.

  • Direct and accompany school ensembles, choirs or bands, and organise concerts or musical events.

  • Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and reports.

  • Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment that nurtures creativity and confidence.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Ideal Music Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching Music at secondary level.

  • Strong musicianship and the ability to teach a range of musical styles and techniques.

  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills as a Music Teacher.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
