Job description

We are looking for a skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment, starting in November 2025 on a temporary, ongoing basis.

Pupils enjoy school life, value their friendships, and are eager to learn. Staff are introducing positive changes to the curriculum, though some pupils need more targeted support to reach their potential. Clear behaviour expectations and supportive initiatives help pupils feel heard and cared for. Enrichment activities and clubs add to a well-rounded experience, with pupils keen for more topic-linked trips.

The successful candidate will provide targeted support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs to access learning and reach their full potential

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo

  • Help implement individual education and behaviour plans

  • Foster a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Previous SEND experience is essential

  • Understanding of SEMH needs and effective behaviour management strategies

  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant.
