Job description
We are seeking a caring and dedicated Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join a inclusive school on a long-term temporary contract. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs while gaining valuable classroom experience. Beginning November 2025.
Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum.
Adapt lesson materials and activities to meet individual learning plans and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.
Record and monitor pupil progress, sharing updates with teachers and parents/carers.
Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills, patience and a nurturing approach as a SEND Teaching Assistant.
Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to pupil welfare.
